Veteran's Day


5 days ago we were a nation divided. We were, undeniably, a mixture of red states and blue states. But it's days like today where we are one nation. Where we come together to mourn, remember, and thank all those who have fought to defend our freedoms. Our right to vote. Our right to voice dissenting opinions without fear of persecution. Our right to be free. It's days like today where politics seems small. Where the score of the football game seems small. We are all so fortunate to live in a country as great as this. However, we can never take America and all her glory fore-granted. For as Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same." May God always continue to bless the United States of America.

Here we go again...

Yes indeed. Here we go again. I shall try, once again, to make a feeble attempt at making blogging a habit in this post-election, politics starved era we are currently entering. In case you're a diehard Republican who has been sleeping under a rock for the past 48 hours here's what's been going on: We lost. Obama won. And no, it's not the end of the United States of America... not yet.

As a 21st Century Republican, it pains me to see the direction the Republican Party is headed. America as we know it is still a center-right country. We are not, however, a far right country. The Republican Party is the party of Lincoln. President Lincoln fought against all odds to ensure that all men (and women) were treated equally. He fought for what he knew was right, but he knew there'd have to be plenty of compromise along the way in order for anything to ever change.

Social issues aside, the GOP platform still resonates with Americans who are, on the whole, fiscally conservative. The nation likes what we're saying. But they don't like how TEA Party darlings are A) making social issues the focus of campaigns when "it's about the economy, stupid" and B) taking a hardline, no compromise stance on every issue. Now before you go and call me a RINO, hear me out.

Republicans and Speaker Boehner still hold the US House. This means that we can essentially block any legislation the President Obama wants to pass. But should we? Why can't we work Democrats and ensure that our values are reflected in legislation. We have the chance to truly turn this country around and work with Democrats to fix our nation's many problems. Is it time to fight like hell to get Republican leaders elected? You betcha. Is it time to drag our party even further to the right? Absolutely not.

I'm afraid that if we keep dragging our party further and further right that we'll lose the youth of this nation, that we'll lose people of color, we'll lose women, and we'll lose many, many more elections. That's when America as we know it will end: when the Republican Party is so far to the right that we lose every election in this center-right nation of ours and hand Democrats the next century of political power. We can't afford to be the party of the old white man anymore. We have to find a way to be more inclusive. This is coming from a 19 year old kid who worked his tail off to try and get Mitt Romney elected. It's time to do some soul searching in the Republican Party. It's time to move this party out of the 20th century and into the 21st. Of course, what do I know? I'm only a 21st Century Republican, a dying species, if you ask me.

After waiting in the beating sun for a little over 3 hours, an anxious crowd of 5,500 got to hear Congressman Paul Ryan speak. In the preceding speakers, Governor John Kasich and Senator Rob Portman reminded the young voters that tomorrow morning, half of our generation will wake up either unemployed or underemployed. That's not what this 21st Century Republican wants to hear. Imagine, if you will, how concerning this is to my generation. We invest in our education by going to college (or trade school), we work hard, we outperform our peers so that we can get ahead. And for what, you ask? So that we can make a living for ourselves and maybe, just maybe make a better life for ourselves than our parents had. But in President Obama's failed economy, all our hard work and determination goes for not as we can't get quality jobs and are forced to move back in with our parents. That's why I'm so passionate over this election. Congressman Ryan declared that this election is a debate about two visions for the future of our great nation, not a contest to see who is the "cool kid". With unemployment at over 8% for the 42nd straight month, it's time to hold President Obama to his promise that if he couldn't turn around the economy, his Presidency should be a "one term proposition". I'm voting for the Romney/Ryan ticket because I believe that they have the plan that will once again allow us to Believe in America, to believe that with hard work and dedication, we too can achieve the American dream. That's why I'm voting for America's Comeback Team.

Romney/Ryan 2012!

Wow! What a great choice by Governor Romney. Paul Ryan will make a tremendous Vice-President. This pick just goes to show that Mitt Romney is focused on creating a balanced budget, creating jobs, and getting our economy right on track. Congressman Ryan has a proven record of proposing budgets that garner support (a feat that President Obama cannot claim).

Some say that Ryan will overshadow Romney on the ticket. That's simply not the case. Mitt Romney is just now hitting his stride. This will be a fired up ticket. Two beautiful families, and two fired up men who are ready to bring the change that we so desperately need in our great country. I believe in America. I believe that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will get America working again. This is it folks, we have 85 days to make a difference, to change history as we know it. Let's all get behind America's Comeback Team!

100 Days

Today marks 100 days until voters in America decide on the direction of America. 100 days until we decide between the socialist polices of President Obama and a free, capitalist society that Mitt Romney would bring with him to the White House. While making calls and talking to voters, it disturbs me that so many people are still undecided on who they will support. Regardless of what Mr. Obama's campaign is trying to achieve, this election is not personal. It's not about who's "cooler". It's an election of ideas, of ways that our great nation should be ran. In my opinion, the choice is clear, we cannot have four more years of Mr. Obama's failed policies. Wake up, America! We're in the midst of the most crucial election of our lives. The time to act is now.

Healthcare Pt. 2

Okay, so my earlier post was my upset side. But in all honesty, what we witnessed in the Supreme Court decision yesterday was a beautiful display of democracy. As Chief Justice Roberts said during his confirmation hearing, "I'm here to call balls and strikes, not pitch or bat." Chief Justice Roberts did what he thought was most consistent with the Constitution and no one can fault him for that. He rose above politics when many critics believed that the Court was becoming increasingly political and polarizing. Hopefully, this decision will once again demonstrate to the American people that the Supreme Court should indeed be considered as the supreme say to the Constitutionality of a law. As conservatives, we should respect the process which the Constitution has set forth for us. As citizens, however, it's imperative that we work to repeal this bad policy. How do we do this? We go and work our tails off for every conservative candidate from here until November 6th. That's how our Founding Father's intended for us to operate. It's important for us to keep control of the House and to gain control of the Senate so that we can control the legislative process. But we also need to work to ensure that Barack Obama and his liberal policies only get 4 years at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. So trust me when I tell you, we'll still be getting full repeal of Obamacare. It's not time to get mad, it's time to get behind our Republican candidates and work harder than ever. For perhaps the first time ever, we're validated when we say, "this is the most important election in history".

Healthcare Pt. 1

What can I say? I'm a pissed off Republican. You don't have to tell me things are bad, I know they're bad. It's obvious that Obama has to go. Not only is Obamacare unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause, it's a massive tax that will cripple those in the middle class. Especially while we're suffering from the Obama Recession. It's time to act. It's time to start knocking on doors. It's time to start making phone calls. It's time to support Mitt Romney and Josh Mandel here in Ohio. I'm not going to let the federal government walk all over me. I'm a human being. I'm going to work my rear off from now until Election Day to take our country back. I have to. We all have to. The next four years of an Obama presidency will be much, much worse than the first four. And I can tell you one thing, I'm mad as hell... and I'm not going to take it anymore. Now who's with me?

Back and Ready to Go

I know that I took a break after only 2 posts. But the political atmosphere is once again heating up and now I'm ready to go again. So tonight (maybe tomorrow) will be a 2 part post about the Health Care ruling, with Operation Fast and Furious coming next. And then, a whole list of things that have been boiling under my skin. Boots

Josh Mandel released a new ad today entitled, Boots. It talks about Josh's qualifications for the United States Senate as well as his dedication and service to the people of Ohio. Sherrod Brown insists on constantly attacking a Marine who served two tours overseas to defend our great nation. Treasurer Mandel's ad not only speaks about his character, but what we must do to take back our great nation. We as conservatives, must put our boots on the ground. We have to make sure that we elect the right people (ie Josh Mandel).

Here in Ohio we have to do everything that we can to ensure that we bring a change for our great country. We have to make sure that we take our country back by not only winning the White House, but taking back the US Senate. And that starts right here in Ohio by trading in one of the most liberal Senators, Sherrod Brown for a former Marine and a true conservative, Josh Mandel.

Operation Enduring Freedom

I've chosen Operation Enduring Freedom as the name of this post purely because it is the goal of this blog to voice the concerns and assess the state of the Republican party through the eyes of a young, 21st century, Republican. This blog is to remain entirely (mostly) about politics, with a focus on Ohio politics. I might throw in some anecdotes about my personal life but who knows. It's time for a new day in America. We have to save this country. We, the young Republicans, all Republicans, have to begin another conservative revolution. Our nation must have a new day and new way. It's time to ensure that our freedom always endures. It's time to take our country back. That time starts now.
